And of course, those Ops (operators) of these are more concerned with their social media accounts getting turned off than real world consequences, as real world consequences are always delayed whereas a lost Twitter account is immediate.
Both civil and criminal laws have clearly been broken.
I am most concerned with the psychological attacks these individuals undertook that killed Robert McNeese in November 2017, and the three recent hospitalizations. Mensch and her group potentially could be charged with conspiracy to commit murder or a near equivalent, in addition to several other crimes related to interfering with Federal elections and defrauding the US government.
Weaponized memes are targeted harassment using subtle contextual clues, a victim's image transposed on top of another, and/or power keywords. Some are less obvious than others. We all would be alarmed at an actual person pointing a gun at his head (something I saw yesterday on one of these accounts). While doing so with a cartoon character putting the target's name on it is not picked up as easily by anyone other than the intended target.
Here is a previous story I wrote regarding the topic.

I have been studying your tactics, which are the same as those that began on Gamer Gate, for years. It isn't like this stuff you guys came up with hasn't already been done now for almost a decade. The only difference is how your org learned to tag team attacks with two Ops and amplified with socks.
