Even though Blazing Saddles came out in 1974, and the Mel Brooks songs were released as singles, a studio-licensed release of the John Morris score wasn't available until 2008.
As someone who collects these things, I can tell you that La-La Land Records is widely considered to be one of the top labels out there doing these kinds of releases & they aren't cheap.
Dan’s work is improperly attributed to the original project that he did not work on. That is a big problem with how he represents his work excluding his abusive and sustained defamation of Rebekah Jones.
I'd have to look closer. But if the producer of contemporaneously-released scores/soundtracks get an IMDB credit, there is no reason this guy should lose it just because the Studio waited 30 years to release it.
It would be different if it were merely a CD *reissue* of something that was released on LP in the 1970's & went out of print.
But all my La-La Lands records are first issue scores/soundtracks that for various reasons weren't ever released with the film. Their producer is literally *the* producer of the soundtrack/score of the film. And that gets you an IMDB credit as far as I know.
Oh the irony. Actually, this particular (and rather defamatory) substack on “misinformation, disinformation and subterfuge” indicates to me that your “Behavior analyst” skillset claim is much more problematic and questionable than Dan’s soundtrack credits at LaLa Land Records. Everyone in the film music industry knows Dan.
The article accurately represents Dan’s own defamatory and egregious abuse towards Rebekah Jones, and his odd attribution to original works he was not part of at the time they were produced.
He should fix his “uncredited work” issue as well as his website so ppl don’t think all the work represented belongs to him as suggested by his own statements.
This seems like more of a hit piece because you don’t like Dan’s politics expressed over a Florida political figure (which is a completely unrelated issue) than about Dan’s soundtrack work, which everyone in the film music industry including the studios who worked with Dan and La La Land Records to produce soundtrack releases of their ORIGINAL projects, knows Dan and has for years.
And yes…a soundtrack to THE ORIGINAL film (even if release decades later) would be listed with THE ORIGINAL FILM in their database. IMDb does not create new film entries for associated projects tied to the original film. But on the ORIGINAL film, dan is not credited. Which is why IMDb even has the option of listing “uncredited” to the original film. But the soundtrack LA LA Land Records released to the ORIGINAL film, he is credited all over the place. Not that hard to find.
Did you ever reach out to Dan personally for verification or a comment? Why or why not? He is pretty easy to find on social media and the web. He posts a lot. Is that not what a reputable writer would do before publishing a story or an opinion column? Seems like a way to go directly to the source and see for yourself. 🤷🏼♂️
Then address Dan on those posts about his opinions you have issue with. And I suggest not making conspiracies up about easily verifiable industry credits in a field where everyone knows Dan. The film music corner of the biz is pretty small. Everyone knows everyone else. What your post does (in my opinion) is actually weakens and distracts from the points you are trying to make about Jones. They have nothing to do with each other. Dan is a libertarian and has always called out actions and behavior as he sees them regardless of the political party of the offender he comments on.
And it isn’t a conspiracy to show the obvious problem with Dan’s website and all uncredited roles.
A conspiracy would be what Dan himself participated in falsely claiming Jones bought Turkish bots and therefore needed to be banned just before she announced her Congressional run.
What he has said and participated in for well over a year goes far beyond “calling out actions and behaviors”
I wasn’t even sure he was an actual person considering nearly every account he participated in abuse with are dedicated single purpose hate accounts, many of them inauthentic and likely bought accounts like Max Nordau.
Actually it is. The rights owners work WITH La La Land Records and Dan to produce their soundtracks. You should actually call them. Many of these older films have seen a revival of archived score releases, including anniversary releases of soundtracks associated with the original films.
IMDb is a crowd sourced database now owned by Amazon. It is not only updated by the production companies. Many actors, producers, composers, cinematographers, crew members, etc…maintain their own credits on their own IMDb pages to be current.
Can you have Daniel Uhlfelder (Rebekah Jones' lawyer) send him a cease-and-desist for his crimes? I hear he's doing that on her behalf to pretty much anyone these days. Like a carnival barker.
He is a producer for La-La Land Records. A label that specializes in (often highly sought after) film score & soundtrack releases.
Even though Blazing Saddles came out in 1974, and the Mel Brooks songs were released as singles, a studio-licensed release of the John Morris score wasn't available until 2008.

It's a weird situation. The editing wars on the Discogs site can get almost as heated as a Wikipedia dispute.
It really is weird.
The production company itself issues credited work on that website, not the artist or producer. Not sure how Dan can fix that.
That is still small compared to his defamation and abuse of Jones.
Your whole blog entry doesn't add up, dear. I'm afraid you got owned multiple times. Sorry, Steven.

I don’t like his abusive coordinated harassment against a woman claiming she is psycho, mentally ill and additionally targets her children. Do you?
That isn’t politics.

Can you point to the exact post Dan made at any time about Turkish bots and Jones? I’ll wait.

JFC. (Why do they just constantly rant). I hope you see this Steven. What is the email address you are using for contact?
ssjsped at ProtonMail . Com
It’s like saying he discovered Florida, just because he moved to Florida.
😂
He did not work on the original project, therefore is not eligible for a credited role.
And he gave himself the credit. It wasn’t verified work by the production company responsible for Blazing Saddles.
Actually it is. The rights owners work WITH La La Land Records and Dan to produce their soundtracks. You should actually call them. Many of these older films have seen a revival of archived score releases, including anniversary releases of soundtracks associated with the original films.
There should be a proper way to get credited then His is the only page I ever saw that looked this weird.
Not on the original project no. A new entry would be created by the company responsible if deemed needed.
IMDb is a crowd sourced database now owned by Amazon. It is not only updated by the production companies. Many actors, producers, composers, cinematographers, crew members, etc…maintain their own credits on their own IMDb pages to be current.
And then verified to receive credit. Dan or his agent should seek an agreeable remedy with the industry to address that.
He also needs to address why he defamed Jones so horrifically.
Can you have Daniel Uhlfelder (Rebekah Jones' lawyer) send him a cease-and-desist for his crimes? I hear he's doing that on her behalf to pretty much anyone these days. Like a carnival barker.
Self own, obviously
