I have been saving this particular thread for awhile as it’s rather smartly written giving an alternative perspective that is fair, honest (from the speaker’s point of view) and reasonable. That does not mean that I agree with it; however, this is presented so well, with zero rancor, callousness, and identifies the common foreign adversaries.
It’s essential reading for one reason—understanding a different point of view.
There were many people in the middle and heavily on the right, and a small portion on the left that did not agree with shutdowns and heavy handed government dealing with the pandemic. Much of the thread before this point was dedicated to that issue.
“I have lost a lot of faith in my country and in humanity…”
This may be a common refrain among our fellow countrymen, why so many of them have become antithetical and emboldened to do things they would otherwise not.
Personally, I don’t trust our government. Never have. The reason is that our Government does hide things, some stuff they shouldn't and do conduct covert surveillance on citizens like myself, caught up incidentally, in a wiretap.
Still, I believe that Democracy and our US Government is far better and less corrupt than say Iran, Russia, China Kron mentions.
I’ll also agree with Kron heavily that Elon is untrustworthy, looking to end our freedoms by pushing the people to do so willingly just to get back to a sense of normality. When my relatives were all over voting for Duarte, a strongman that once boasted of throwing a drug dealer to his death, was due to wanting crime dealt with. Once Duarte had won, multiple crime lords turned themselves in, or at least according to reports my relatives told me about they did.
Where I disagree is his blaming the Biden admin. The lockdowns happened on the State level and during the Trump administration. I also agree with the experts that each of the Twitter Files I have looked at so far is within the scope of moderation and investigative inquiry after crimes have been alleged to have been conducted. Elon did after attest to Twitter being a crime scene. It always has been. Still is.
