With an immensely weakened McCarthy on the precipice of assuming the Speakership being essentially one or two votes absent of victory the Democrats have limited negotiating room to cut a “sit out” deal to get things moving forward, simply having 210 or 208 votes cast instead of 212 reducing the threshold exactly by one or two votes needed. If McCarthy fails in the next round scheduled to begin at 10 PM EST tonight and doesn’t flip at least one of the defectors, Democrats still have enormous leverage.
The remaining six Freedom Caucus stand outs are these slick six.
Biggs, Boebert, Gaetz were so deeply involved in January 6th, speaking, leading an insurrectionist scouting mission, and being Matt Gaetz, that those three are so extremely hard core “Cons” serving us disinformation, none will flinch.
Of Eli Crane, Bob Good, Matt Rosendale, McCarthy has to pull two and hope no one misses a vote in order to complete this speakership thing he is probably going to regret getting anyhow. My guess is he will get “present” votes out of the three. If that doesn’t happen tonight the Dems should deal to sit out offering one major concession.
If a member of the House is indicted, they are immediately suspended from serving.
Matt Gaetz and George Santos both are under either State or Federal investigation at the moment with Matt’s buddy Joel Greenberg already sentenced to eleven years, including two crimes that Gaetz is also alleged to have committed.
Sound good?
