Scalise Outlines 2-Week GOP House Agenda
A Series On Misinformation, Disinformation and Subterfuge
With an exceedingly narrow control of the House, the GOP is planting their flag on what they intend to do legislatively with Number Two, Steve Scalise posting this.
It’s not as bad of a starter list of messaging bills considering what is likely to be a rather ugly next up to two years with the GOP in control. A few of these aren’t immediately objectionable, which given the radical contingent within the party is surprising.
I see one bill on this list that I like, though the name sucks, Prosecutors Need to Prosecute Act.
:)
Lordy, do I like that one.
Why aren’t we charging career criminals like Trump, Stone, Bannon, Flynn, Gaetz, etc. when public evidence is exceedingly high? Sadly, the details of such a bill likely won’t do anything with such specificity so it’s likely just more regulation. However, it sure would be nice if the bill could be reworked to do just that, granting public insight into why Ginny Thomas can fund an insurrection or Utah Senator Mike Lee craft Trump’s fake elector slate plot and seemingly dodge legal issues over them.
Mike Lee, who isn’t presently charged with any crime, is purportedly the original source of the fake elector scheme, suggesting in texts as that being a means to trigger objections.
Did Mike Lee mean for everybody then to actually do that, set up an illegal scheme to defraud tens of millions of voters? That’s the real kicker with possibly criminal charges as the intent itself doesn’t appear to be established. This also from Schlott’s piece:
Lee backed off of his idea in the end, yet the alternate slates had gone forward and had been submitted.
It will indeed be interesting to see if there is at minimum a public censure for Lee’s recommend leading to felony behavior.
Back to Scalise.
I expect him to be the next alternative for Speaker of the House if/when Kevin fails to get the five pro-Russian hardliners to capitulate. While I am hopeful the Dems picked and recruited an R they could all back and who could also pull four Republican votes to select, they haven’t been the best at navigating political gamesmanship that I am not holding my breath on that happening.
If the Speaker isn’t set in a timely manner it could be a tedious slog with at least two of the GOP side currently under criminal investigation and potential for indictment extremely elevated for Matt Gaetz.
