Most of the Sports World has been in shock since Monday Night Football when an athlete hit in the chest suffered a heart attack stopping the game. I won’t say his name, only to say that the rightwing immediately began again spreading this insane conspiracy that vaccines were the cause.
Q-Elon, as was the predecessor QAnon has a thing with causing mass death, whether it is stoking Civil Wars, being expressly in favor of Russia obliterating their neighbors, or passive genocide brought on by weaponizing a pandemic, so it shouldn’t be a surprise agent Musk would whip this one out to his masses from Liz Wheeler.
Let’s assume nothing given above is factual until there is supporting evidence, especially the claim 1/5000 young men have heart issues due to COVID vaccination.
Every study I have looked at has indicated temporary inflammation of the heart has occurred in some individuals, though none ever determined a cause, or if the condition was already present. That makes the first statement false. Secondly, some of the studies indicate that this condition goes away with treatment, so Liz is also lying about “have heart issues.” When reading these studies the first thought that came to mind was if the myocarditis found in studies was similar to that of the general population found prior to COVID. I wasn’t able to find those numbers.
Wheeler’s second statement, scientifically referring to getting hit in the chest hard enough to stop the heart, doesn’t matter too much for the sake of the conspiracy. We should all avoid taking direct blows to vital organs especially the heart.
The third line, 1598 heart attacks among athletes, I also cannot find. I would assume the number given, if accurate, is globally so I looked up research and found a 2018 Australian study stating 201 athlete deaths over a ten year period were attributable to happening during athletics, or roughly 20 deaths per year. As this study had an age range that went up to 65 it isn’t a perfect comparison, only having the activity engaged in as athletics leading to a heart attack.
With a roughly 25 million Australian population compared to a 7.8 Billion world population, lets multiply 20 x 300 to see how many athletes globally one would estimate if they were similar to Australia, should have heart attacks per year.
20 x 300 = 6000. Wheeler’s numbers must be referring instead to the US, which has over 325 Million (multiply by 20 by 13 to get 260). If her claim is the US, and was backed up with actual science, there would have been 1100 dead athletes over two-years or 550 in one.
Did we have 550 US athletes drop dead of heart attacks last year and no one noticed save Elon Musk and this Wheeler chick??
