No Trump is Not Going to Become the Next Speaker of the House
A Series On Misinformation, Disinformation and Subterfuge
Trump is good at one thing, sucking the life out of any news cycle by saying the first thing that pops out of his mind. This time it was that he would become the next Speaker.
Let’s put a kibosh on that noting the man golfed a full fourth of the days he was President and was notorious for not showing up for ‘work’ and having plenty of ‘executive time’ planned in to do nothing noteworthy when he did.
Trump is the king of sloth, not noted for getting along with others and is incapable of displaying leadership when that is exactly what the GOP needs.
What is this all about anyway?
Trump is losing his shirt, or rather his businesses, due to his present fraud case in New York that accuses him with evidence of lying to inflate his value to get loans he shouldn’t and then lying by deflating his value to the State to avoid paying taxes. It’s just one of a continuous stream of legal proceedings against the President set to play out over the next eighteen to twenty-four months that will likely take a massive toll on his health. By saying he will consider taking the job he draws attention to him.
Secondly, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, the incompetent Georgia embarrassment serving in Congress, has been pushing Trump’s name forward for Speaker before the nation had Kevin McCarthy foisted on us instead. Now that Kevin has been ousted by Matt Gaetz, MTG’s brainchild of nonsense can take root.
Frankly, Trump is preferable to Jordan if only for the entertainment value the media would get out of the dismantling of US institutions, credit ratings and stature. Neither man is fit to serve office. That’s why I prefer Steve Scalise as the least damaging choice of the three objectionable offerings.
Trump isn’t an option. He will not be given the Speakership though I would not be surprised if MTG or another far-right provocateur in Congress nominates him when the rounds come up. It will eventually be either Scalise (most likely) or Kevin McCarthy who still has high level of caucus support though clearly not the majority needed to beat Gaetz, the kingpin leading to the original ouster.
