No, the Lab Leak Conspiracy Isn't Confirmed
A Series On Misinformation, Disinformation and Subterfuge
Just like how Bill Barr lied about the contents of the Mueller Report to set a narrative it appears the same is true of the Department of Energy that the headlines obscured the actual details.
Low-confidence means that COVID-19 being released from a lab in China isn’t plausible though has not been fully ruled out.
I dealt with the DOE during the aftermath of the first of several Idaho Falls nuclear accidents beginning in 2011. The submitted governmental reports do not accurately reflect what happened, and intentionally misrepresented the grade of Uranium the workers were exposed to and in doing so lying to the public about the threat being short term. So when I say I don’t trust an assessment of the DOE at face value, I do so for a reason.
The lede not matching the headline of course didn’t stop conspiracists and influencers from going crazy going all in on narrative and failing on substance.
Here is one example.
No. It’s a conspiracy theory.
More importantly than that is that the NYTimes is on the record as pushing a known conspiracy with a misleading headline similar to how they have published, something the recently intentionally misleading Bueno who lied about Christopher Bouzy and I agree on.
In the case of how the far-right weaponized the conspiracy, they used it first to normalize anti-Asian racism, pump up violence, then later to attack Anthony Fauci and the Federal Government.
Let’s look at a more pernicious account that promotes misinformation such QAnon’s Big Lie and how he reacted to the blame Asian hook WSJ also put out.
Mike Lee, part of our government, who lied to all of us delegates and the people of Utah that he would only serve two terms isn’t exactly a reliable source of facts, being based and all. Again, the lab leak is not credible, because Science.
Presently research has shown COVID was circulating elsewhere in the world prior to China identifying transmissions. It is false to support a lab leak idea when the scientific “poop studies” prove the conspiracy is nothing more than the far-right conspiracy.
“I dealt with the DOE during the aftermath of the first of several Idaho Falls nuclear accidents beginning in 2011.”
Weird connection- my ex Father in Law worked at that Idaho Falls facility for his entire career.
