Some of the operators of various trolling accounts get more coverage than others here. One of those is the man behind the vicious and criminal harassment account Max Nordau that focuses primarily on spreading Florida disinformation despite living in Indiana. Here Andrew McGimpsey is offering himself up to replace Yoel Roth showing off some updated options clicking on the … icon in the process.
Considering Andrew’s work to undermine Federal elections, given his accounts back by Yoel’s Twitter Safety after getting caught running a number of accounts to suicide troll Rebekah Jones, it isn’t a good idea to add him to the “team” despite his being on the team. Besides the huge 50K+ bot-net associated with @amcgimpsey14, he and his brother have quite a few identifiable accounts. Here are four of Andrew, each nearly empty, two of which include his picture.
The third and fourth accounts were made in September possibly in anticipation of losing his main again. The other two are a decade old. The green profile follows mostly hacking and cyber security accounts with just one follower as a mutual.
Spamming accounts, to mass report or otherwise harass others is platform manipulation, with many such groups such as Andrew’s allowed to operate openly by Yoel Roth. I suspect whomever takes the helm at Safety will do much to change this part of the company’s scheming practices as clandestine malign influence campaigns are part of Twitter’s current business model. That brings us to the precipitous drop in cash flow after Musk.
Twitter has gone through some pretty big shifts since the Chief Twit Elon captured the platform on behalf of the PayPal mafia. Some of that was Elon himself tweeting out racist iconography and Nazi images, yet the worst of that was the company unintentionally promoting genocide via imposter verified accounts like these banned shortly after Patel’s thread went viral.
Here is another one of rabble-rouser influencer Ben Shapiro getting dunked on abusively via an imposter account.
The best imposter, Jesus, not the Orange Chosen One, goes to Christ, now verified despite no proof that this isn’t another false Christ, still is highly offensive and problematic.
My own research is getting bogged down by all the fake verified’s muddling up threads, requiring added time looking to each verified account to see if it just plopped down 8 bucks to the God of Twitter. Like this one.
And this one.
Fake accounts and influencers aplenty that missed out on the hopefully only one-month vanity plate verified checkmark, will rue how so many others got and used those to mess and influence others.
