Rocco’s documentary regarding his and VICE News’s setting up fugitive John McAfee for capture is one of the most twisted espionage stories, that it boggles the mind.
Rocco had the ability to scrub the coordinates from the photo before he sent it to his staff. He didn’t. Or perhaps not have the settings turned on with the camera to add the data in the first place? Both those are choices a competent editor would make when going out an interviewing a fugitive.
In the above clip he blamed idiots for the mistake. Considering he was the first set of hands having the ability to remove that data, and he was the editor knowing both how to do so and why it needed to happen, the incompetence began not with his staff, but with Vice’s editor.
That geo-data, while helpful, wasn’t sufficient in getting the authorities to make the arrest. Rocco and McAfee went on the run together with Castoro using his phone in at least one video clip, while someone else was driving. That was a choice, as was not scrubbing the geo-data before sending it, as well as having the settings on to collect and attach the data to the picture. Rocco made exactly the choices needed to help assist with the arrest.
Most of the comments on this thread question Rocco’s ability, and his transitioning into an alt-right media figure as this account did.
Rocco isn’t trustworthy, nor competent, which makes him an ideal operative I guess.
You're fucked Rocco. In my eyes you are fucked. Am I wrong or am I right? Something in the middle? Something above my head? Hi emily...your fucked too. Tim?
