Breaking: 12th Ballot Loss marks Top 5 Historically
A Series on Misinformation, Disinformation and Subterfuge
At 12 ballots and moving to a 13th for the 2023 Speaker race now puts this as historically top five for most ballot rounds used.
There are supposed to be up to three Republican candidates for Congress absent today so the threshold for electing a speaker could be 216. (431/2)) With 212 votes locked for Hakeem Jefferies it is less likely we will see Present as a vote today, which always happened after the initial roll call votes. Representative elects can change their votes before the end tally is given; however, the margin for error of accidentally giving the Democratic Party full control is not likely worth it to the GOP.
Unlike past ballots, this one didn’t hit five “No” at the same point, so the end total is going to be different.
