Airforce None, Qatar’s Gift Leads to Concerns
A Series on Misinformation, Disinformation and Subterfuge
Trump is getting the biggest Presidential gift in US history—one I am intrigued by.
First, it’s essentially a Trunped-up opulent 13-year old Boeing aircraft, intended to be used as an Airforce One ‘holdover’ plane. Second, It’s not being given to Trump, rather the US Airforce. The intent is to later park it at Trump’s Presidential Library after the two replacement Airforce One planes are delivered. Third, it isn’t upgraded to accommodate the current needs of being a Presidential plane. That means it will cost tens of millions of taxpayer dollars to be approved by Congress to begin. Fourth, most will call this corruption when it really isn’t.
I don’t see this as corruption in the legal sense, despite Trump being wholly corrupt. We’ll get to that in a moment.
When I wrote Donald Trump Explained, a Special Education Perspective of the Last Forty-fifth President of the United States, I wrote about Qatar. My father worked for the Qatari Queen, building a documentary on families, meant to strengthen Islamic ones but built in a manner that builds all families. Qatar is home to a critically important US base and is a critical and friendly ally.
Trump screwed over Qatar, doing so for MbS, the de facto dictator of Saudi Arabia that had Jamal Khashoghi cut into pieces. Part of that was falsely accusing Qatar of financing terrorism as they paid a hefty ransom to free royal hostages held in Iraq by MbS’s allies after the group went on a hunting trip. So in a sense, Qatar had funded MbS.
MbS and Trump ordered a blockade, doing so shortly after Jared Kushner wasn’t given a loan on 666 5th Avenue, better known as Trump Tower. There were ten items that were being required of Qatar. The main one that stuck out to me then was that MbS wanted to destroy the only free Arab press, Al Jazeera, headquartered of course, in Doha. That was a non-starter considering the outlet is essential in uncovering and reporting on Middle Eastern corruption. It’s the only source within the region.
I see Qatar donating a jet that is nearing the end of its use, to the US government as a positive. It’s being framed as a Presidential gift, which technically means it’s a gift to the office, not the individual that holds that seat.
All Presidential gifts are traditionally added to Libraries. The Reagan Library in Simi Valley, for example, holds all the state gifts he received. That Library also has the only Air Force One within its collection, one you can tour through. There are also tours of a helicopter used to take the President from the White House to the airport. Retiring this plane to an eventual Trump Presidential Library wouldn’t be corrupt, rather par for the course with both Airforce One jets the US has in operation likely being donated to Biden and/or Obama’s libraries. Frankly, Reagan’s plane too was a flying palace
Some rumors have surfaced claiming Trump would then use the plane post Presidency. That doesn’t make sense given both 40 plus year old planes currently in use would be retired with Boeing’s promised replacements not too likely to be done, presently scheduled to happen after Trump is Constitutionally required again to leave office. I highly doubt that the details within the gifting would allow Trump to use the plane post Presidency for any other reason than as a museum piece. Nevertheless, the public will latch onto that possibility as did Rothschild, because we all know Trump is wholly corrupt, with this rumor lining up with our biases.
Still, I doubt that happens, given Trump will be 83 or 84, less able to walk given his current leg dragging, and past health problems are likely to be worse by then. He might not even make it alive by the end of his term as strokes, falls and other ailments could do him in more than West Point ramps did during his first tenure.
My only concern with Trump’s library is potential attempts to personally profit off of having one, not getting a plane, by his kids mainly as it’s unlikely he will finish one in his lifetime. Then there is this reality:
It’s got to be retrofitted and made secure, which takes time and money, the later Congress has to allocate.
The only logical solution to getting that money for ‘his’ plane is by tacking on the costs in his ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’
🤫
Any other bill to do so may be dead on arrival, with the BBB itself being rather onerous and too ambiguous in what 1.5 Trillion in cuts to spending would be made to pay for ‘stimulus for the rich.’
That’s all assuming the plane is ultimately gifted. It’s under discussion yet ultimately may not be given as no one trusts Trump to handle such things ethically because he lacks all ethic standards of past leaders.
